High School Students Learn Financial Literacy with "Life Is A Reality" Event

On Monday, March 27, social studies students in 11th and 12th grade at the high school were able to participate in a financial literacy program called "Life Is A Reality" put on by the Visions Federal Credit Union branch inside of the high school. The LIAR event is designed to give students the opportunity to learn some lessons for their financial futures.

Each student selects a "career" and is given a monthly salary. After receiving their money, the students went around to different stations that represent different facets of adult life that require budgeting, such as groceries, housing, and internet access. The students were able to budget out their finances, making choices and prioritizing certain stations over others.

This was the fourth year that high school students at Newark Valley were able to take part in this event that helps them learn financial lessons and prepare them for life after graduation.
