Music instruction at Nathan T. Hall is a sequential and spiraling skill-building program covering basic elements of music such as rhythm, melody, harmony, texture, form, tempo, dynamics, and tone color.
Starting in kindergarten children become more aware of the elements as they develop their pre-reading skills through listening, singing, echoing, marching, playing instruments, and creative movement. As students progress through the grades more complex skills are introduced.
Students also learn about the history, science, language, math, and social implications of music through various genres.
All classes receive music instruction 2 times during the six-day cycle for 30 minutes.
