Newark Valley senior Kyle Pratt placed 30th in a field of 349 competitors at the 2019 U.S. High School Bowling National Championship at the Royal Pin Expo Bowl in Indianapolis on Sunday, June 23.
In qualifying, he rolled games of 246, 213, 189 and 216 for an 864 series. He would be one of 131 bowlers to advance to the next round, sitting in 53rd place.  A 234 in Survivor Round 1 moved Pratt up to 37th place. He followed that game with a 233 in Survivor Round 2 and a 202 in Survivor Round 3, climbing to 30th place.
Only the top 16 would advance to Survivor Round 4 and Pratt's seven-game 1,533 series fell just 46 pins shy. During the high school season, Pratt helped the Cardinals win the IAC Large School championship. He also claimed the Section IV Division II individual title and placed 10th in the NYSPHSAA Composite tournament.
