Students Raise Money for St. Baldrick's Foundation
A Newark Valley student who has battled cancer wanted to make a difference for other kids with their own battles.
13-year-old Brody Hines made it his mission to raise money for the St. Baldrick’s Foundation.
It’s a not-for-profit organization that raises funds to help find cures for children with cancer.
The Nathan T. Hall Elementary and Newark Valley Middle School both had separate, friendly competitions to see which class could raise the most amount of money for the foundation.
“It is very cool to see the support that our small little town does,” said Hines’ mother Sarah, “grades through pre-k through seven have all donated.”
Brody said it was important for him to do this.
“So other kids don’t have like what I have,” said Brody. “Like not have a cure like the first time. Can’t be cured at all.” Watch the story on WBNG
