3rd graders get a K-9 visitor

Recently 3rd graders at Nathan T. Hall Elementary School read a story called “Officer Mike and Aero” about a police officer who had a K-9 dog. Afterward, School Resource Officer, Mark Driscoll, visited our classrooms and talked about his career as part of the Broome County Sherriff’s Office. He talked about how he became a police officer and answered many questions from our third graders. He then arranged a visit by Trooper Kressley and his dog Juna. The children heard about what kinds of things a trooper does and what special abilities his dog was trained to perform. The students made some great connections between the fictional story they read and real-life experiences with members of law enforcement. We want to thank both SRO Driscoll and Trooper Kressley for visiting our third graders.
