Our girls varsity basketball team had a strong start to the season with two impressive wins on the road during the Oneonta Drago tournament this weekend!
On Friday night, the team took down Class A Horseheads by the score of 56-47. Jasmine Graham paced a balance team effort with 15 points and four rebounds. Hayley Beebe chipped in 11 points and three assists, and Cha Gardner registered 11 points and 12 rebounds.
On Saturday, the team overcame the disadvantage of departing for the game at 1 p.m. and playing the host school on their court at 9 p.m. Shaking off a sluggish start, the team captured the championship with 56-36 win over Oneonta. Hayley Beebe connected for 17 points and three steals and Cha Gardner recorded a monster game: 11 points, 15 rebounds, six blocks, and six assists.
Beebe and Graham were named to the all-tournament team, and Gardner was named tournament MVP. The Cardinals have their home opener Tuesday, when they'll take on Elmira Heights.
