Newark Valley High School Welcomes New Principal

On January 30, 2015, Mrs. Diane Arbes will be retiring from her position as High School Principal at Newark Valley. Mrs. Arbes has served the students of this district for 30 years as both a teacher and principal. Additionally, Mrs. Arbes served as an administrator at Broome-Tioga BOCES for a number of years.

The Board of Education, at their meeting of January 26th, 2015, appointed Michelle Bombard as the new High School Principal. Mrs. Bombard has been an employee of Newark Valley Schools for five years, serving first as the Library Media Specialist at the High School, and, most recently, as the Director of Curriculum and Information Services as well as the Director of Educational Technology.

Michelle grew up in Nichols, NY and is a graduate of Tioga Central Schools. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from The College of Saint Rose, and her Master’s degree from Syracuse University. In addition to her administrative credentials, Michelle holds teaching certifications in Library/Media and English.

Mrs. Bombard has proven herself repeatedly to be a student-centered, service oriented educator. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing, among other things, our blended and on-line courses, as well as the development of our high school café, which will serve as the centerpiece of our entrepreneurial education program.

Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Bombard in her new position, as well as wishing Mrs. Arbes the best as she embarks on the next chapter of her life.
