May $1000.00 each to three NV seniors Mildred Faulkner Truman Scholarship Fund Student must receive a diploma in June from Newark Valley high school and demonstrate community support and positive community involvement, must also be a resident of Tioga County for all 4 years of high school and recipient should have the aptitude to pursue a higher education., a 1-2 page biography which should include a paragraph on community service.

$1000.00 to a NV senior Senator Thomas W. Libous Student Community Service Award Graduating senior that is planning to attend a SUNY college, Must display community service., 100 word essay describing the most important lesson learned from participating in community service

April $1,000 to a NV senior Glenn Warner Memorial VFW Scholarhsip Student must be a resident of Tioga County for the four years immediately preceding graduation., Must maintain an average above 80% for the first 3 quarters of the senior year, Must be accepted to and attend an institution of higher learning and intend to complete a four year degree, Brief statement expressing financial need, Copy of student activity sheet and college acceptance letter.
June 1 $500.00 savings bond to a NV senior Newark Valley United Teachers Ruth E. Kinyon Memorial Scholarship

Awarded to a senior who plans to pursue a degree in education. Complete application by June 1st. Include a copy of college acceptance letter.

Late May $250.00 to a NV senior girl and a NV senior boy Newark Valley Fire Department Auxiliary Scholarship Student plans to attend college. Overall G.P.A. of 80% or better.

Early March $4,000 ($1,000 per year over the course of 4 years ) to a senior at each NYS High School. New York Lottery Leaders of Tomorrow Student should be graduating in 2005. At least a ‘B’ average based on 7 semesters of high school. Should have experiences in extracurricular and community activities, as well as leadership. Plans to attend a New York accredited college, university, trade school, or community college.

Transcript required as well as other high school information.

Essay- describing community service.

1st week in May $500 to a senior from the region The Vietnam Moving Wall Award Must be the son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a veteran. Should show financial need. Must have a record of volunteer work/community service. Student should have already been accepted into a program of higher education. Brief paragraph describing why the award would be an honor to receive.
February $300 to a senior from Newark Valley, Owego or Tioga Broome Tioga Counselor’s Association Award Seniors pursuing a degree in education or human services. Essay- 1-2 pages describing future educational and career plans, as well as job you wish to pursue and why.
End of May $1000.00 to 2 students from Candor, Newark Valley, Owego, or Tioga Owego Rotary Club Student Scholarship Award High school senior. Must have a 75 or above grade point average. Should be involved in extracurricular activities and community service. Will pursue studies at an institution of higher education to become a positive member of society. Brief paragraphs need to be written describing family, reason for applying.3 references are needed.

End of January $1000.00 awarded to a student from Candor, Newark Valley, Owego, Spencer-Van Etten or Tioga Guthrie Health Professions Scholarship Student must be a member of the senior class and plan to enroll at an accredited college/university, or hospital based nursing program, to study health sciences. Applicants must plan to a career in the health care field. Recommendation letter needed. 2 essays- 1 about a hobby or experience, other about a major challenge facing the health care industry.

January New York State Elks Association Scholarship Award Any graduating senior whose parent is an Elk in good standing of a Lodge in New York State. Both merit and need based.
350 word statement about leadership in high school. Letter from parent confirming financial status is needed. Transcript and regents scores needed. One letter of recommendation and one letter of endorsement.

$1000.00 to a senior from the region to be used toward freshman year tuition in college Sam Walton Community Scholarship Applications are available in December at local Wal-Mart stores. This scholarship is based on community involvement, work experience, academic record, SAT/ACT scores, and financial need. Student cannot be a Wal-Mart employee

$1000.00 to a regional winner Richard J.(Dick) Stack Memorial Scholarship Essay related to community service and personal experiences. Applicant must be a high school senior planning to attend college and who has participated in community service.
Early April $TBA amount to two students from the southern tier region Progressive Dental Community Scholarship Applicant must be a high school senior planning to attend college Award is based on academic achievement and community service. Complete application, including an essay and two letters of recommendation.
Late April/Early May $1000.00 to two students from the three listed school districts. Maine Community Foundation, inc. Dr. Morris Eber Memorial Scholarship Applicant must be a high school senior planning to pursue a degree in medicine or a related health science field. Applicant must be a student at Newark Valley, Maine-Endwell, or Union-Endicott. Application including essay, 5 completed teacher recommendation forms, & extracurricular activities.

Late February $300.00 to a regional winner Phi Delta Kappa Southern Tier New York Chapter Future Educator Scholarship Applicant must plan to attend a 4-year college to obtain a degree in education/teaching. Completed application, including an essay and two letters of recommendation.
