What Does
A College Consider? |
|
Most colleges look at the same basic information when
considering a student for admission: |
| |
| 1. GPA: Grade Point Average - this is
the average of all your final grades for each credit-bearing
course taken. |
| 2. Class Rank: Your rank compares you
to the rest of your class. It is based on your weighted
GPA. |
| 3. Curriculum: Colleges look at
the difficulty level of the courses you've taken, types of
courses (foreign languages, math, science, electives...), and
at the number of years you've taken particular sibjects. |
| 4. Extracurricular Activities: These
are the activities, clubs, and sports that you are involved in
at school and in the community. |
| 5. ACT/SAT Exam Scores: Competitive
colleges require either the ACT or the SAT exam. These
exams are generally taken junior and/or senior year. |
| 6. Recommendations: Required by some
colleges and are generally written by your school counselor,
teachers, coaches and/or community leaders. |
